MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN URGENCH STATE PEDAGOGICAL INSTITUTE, REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN AND AZERBAIJAN UNIVERSITY, REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

This Memorandum is concluded in connection with the establishment of institutional relations between Urgench State Pedagogical Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan University of the Republic of Azerbaijan with recognition of all benefits granted to these institutions.

1. The purpose of this Memorandum is to develop academic and educational cooperation and mutual understanding between the two institutions of higher education.

2. Both institutions of higher education agree to develop cooperation in many academic fields on the basis of equality and mutual benefit:  

       (a) Exchange of researchers and other administrative    

      personnel;

b) Exchange of undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members;

c) Conducting joint research projects, internships;

e) Holding lectures and symposia;

f) Exchange of academic information and materials;

g) Facilitating other academic cooperation by mutual agreement.

3. The development and implementation of specific activities based on this Memorandum will be separately discussed and agreed upon between the institutions of higher education that undertake the specific projects. Both institutions of higher education agree to carry out these activities in accordance with the laws and regulations of their respective countries after full consultation and approval.

4. It is understood that the implementation of any of the collaborations mentioned in paragraph 2 may be limited depending on the availability of resources and financial support at the respective higher education institutions.

5. If any collaborative research activity under this Memorandum results in the possibility of intellectual property, both institutions of higher education shall endeavor to reach a fair understanding with respect to ownership and other property interests that may arise. This understanding shall be based on the laws, regulations, and guidelines implemented at each institution of higher education.

6. This Memorandum may be supplemented or modified by written agreement by representatives of both institutions of higher education.

7. In case of any unforeseen incident during joint activities in any country, both HEIs agree to discuss a mutually acceptable solution. Practical solutions shall be included in the specific agreements mentioned in paragraph 3.

8. This Memorandum shall be valid for a period of five (5) years from the date of signature by representatives of both institutions. This Memorandum will be renewed after review and revision by both institutions of higher education.

9. This Memorandum may be terminated at any time during its term if either institution of higher education notifies the other in writing at least six (6) months prior to the date of termination.

10. In the event of any disagreement regarding the application, interpretation, or implementation of this Agreement, the institutions of higher education shall make every effort to resolve the disagreement. Alternative means of dispute resolution shall be exhausted before recourse to the courts.
