Information about the Department of History and Geography at Urgench State Pedagogical Institute, Faculty of Philology and History:

Based on the Presidential Decree-289 dated June 21, 2022, regarding measures to improve the quality of pedagogical education and further develop the activities of higher educational institutions for teacher training, Urgench State Pedagogical Institute was established on the basis of the bachelor's degree programs and master's degree specialties in pedagogical education at Urgench State University.

The Department of History and Geography at Urgench State Pedagogical Institute was established on September 4, 2023.

The head of the department is Umarjon Rustamovich Khodjamuratov, a PhD in philosophy.

The department offers two bachelor's degree programs: 60111100-History and 6011100-Geography and Fundamentals of Economic Sciences.

There are a total of 75 students studying in the History program and 61 students in the Geography and Fundamentals of Economic Sciences program.

The department has a total of 9 faculty members, including 1 doctor of science, 3 PhD holders, 1 instructor, and 4 teaching assistants.

At present, 5 professors are working in the department as full-time faculty members, 3 professors are working as internal part-time faculty members, and 1 professor is working as an external part-time faculty member.

The department has cooperation with most of the leading higher educational institutions in the country and abroad in the field of education. These include Istanbul University in the Republic of  Turkey, Urgench State University, Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami, Navoi State Pedagogical Institute, Termez State Pedagogical Institute, and other institutions. Currently, cooperation agreements are being signed with new partners.
